Sony Ericsson Yue

Year: 2009
Prototype level: Cancelled
Codename: Yue

Overview

The Sony Ericsson Yue was a Cyber-shot handset developed as part of Sony Ericsson’s planned 2009 product range. Designed as a compact candybar, Yue was intended to occupy a similar position to the popular K550i, while bringing the Cyber-shot line forward with a 3.2-megapixel camera. Early reports suggested a relatively small 1.9-inch display and a design that retained the straightforward, camera-focused character of Sony Ericsson’s earlier Cyber-shot phones.

Yue was one of several phones that appeared in Sony Ericsson’s development plans for early 2009, alongside projects such as Frances, Filippa and Athena. Despite being sufficiently advanced to receive a codename and detailed planned specifications, Yue never reached commercial release. The project was ultimately abandoned, leaving the surviving hardware as a glimpse of another branch of Sony Ericsson’s Cyber-shot range that disappeared before it could become a finished product.
