Overview

The Sony Ericsson K750i was one of the company’s most successful camera phones, released in 2005 as part of the Cyber-shot generation that preceded the dedicated Cyber-shot branding. It combined a 2-megapixel autofocus camera with a sliding lens cover, flash, macro mode and a dedicated camera button, while also introducing a compact design that became one of Sony Ericsson’s most recognisable phones of the period.

The specimen in this collection is a particularly unusual non-final version. All of its external surfaces are completely unpainted, giving the handset a very different appearance from the finished retail model. The side button normally used for the media player also carries a curious symbol resembling a radio symbol rather than the familiar play symbol. On the front, the middle button below the display has no pictogram at all, another small but clear indication that the external design had not yet been finalised.

This K750i is also special for a more personal reason: it was given to the collector as a gift by a dear friend, Mr. B. Beyond its unusual prototype characteristics, it therefore has a personal story and sentimental value that makes it particularly meaningful within the collection.
