Nokia 6185

Year: 1999
Prototype level: Non-Final
Codename: DuFu

Overview

The Nokia 6185 was a North American dual-band CDMA/AMPS handset introduced in 1999 and part of Nokia’s 6100 family. Designed primarily for the US and Canadian markets, it supported both 800 MHz and 1900 MHz networks.

The specimen in this collection is an unfinished development version with several visible differences from the production phone. The front cover is unfinished grey, while the keypad uses a soft plastic-covered silver finish instead of the black rubber keypad used on the commercial 6185. The battery contacts are also different. The back/middle cover is missing the Nokia lettering normally found along its upper edge, and its surface has a noticeably rougher finish than the production part.
