Ericsson S1088 (T28s)
Year: 1998
Prototype level: Non-Final
Codename: Marianne

Overview
The Ericsson S1088 was an early prototype of the T28s, developed under the codename Marianne. The S1088 designation was used during development before Ericsson’s naming system changed and the phone was ultimately released as the T28s. This particular version therefore represents an early stage of the T28s design.
The specimen differs noticeably from the commercial T28s. It has the black rear cover and flip from the S1088 rather than the silver rear cover and colour combination used on the T28s; black was not offered as a commercial T28s colour in this configuration. The handset also carries no Ericsson or T28 branding anywhere on the exterior. The keypad is different as well, with the centre key marked “CLR” instead of the “C” used on the production T28s.
Together, these details make this more than simply an early T28s: it preserves the appearance and component choices of the S1088 development stage, before the design and external identification were finalised for the commercial phone
