Benq Siemens EF82

Year: 2006
Prototype level: Cancelled
Codename: Falcon

Overview

The BenQ-Siemens EF82 was developed as the successor to the EF81 and was one of the last phones produced by BenQ Mobile before the company’s bankruptcy. It retained the basic design of the EF81 but introduced several changes, including a larger QVGA display, a redesigned keypad, stereo speakers with improved audio, RDS radio and a 3.2-megapixel camera.

The EF82 reached a very advanced stage of development and working prototypes were produced, but it never entered commercial production. Contemporary reports from people who had used the phone described it as essentially finished, while estimates of the number built vary considerably. Its cancellation with the collapse of BenQ Mobile makes the EF82 one of the last pieces of hardware from the Siemens mobile-phone lineage.
